Acoustics
We offer consulting and design services in the field of acoustics, with specific technical expertise in the environmental, industrial and building sectors.
We assist designers, companies, and public authorities in the assessment and management of noise, operating in full compliance with current regulations. Our services cover all project phases—from initial planning to final testing—with the goal of ensuring both acoustic comfort and environmental protection.
Our Areas of Expertise
- Environmental Noise Control
Acoustic assessments in compliance with current regulations for the protection of the population and territory.
Design of noise mitigation measures for road, railway, industrial, and shooting range noise. - Outdoor Sound Emissions and Propagation
Analysis of sound propagation in open spaces, including predictive modeling and environmental impact assessments. - Sound Source Characterisation
Determination of noise emissions based on the physical and operational properties of sound sources. - Building Acoustics
Design and verification of sound insulation performance in residential, public, and commercial buildings, in compliance with legal requirements. - Room Acoustics
Optimisation of acoustic performance in spaces dedicated to music, theater, conferences, cinema, and entertainment. - Acoustic and Vibration Measurement
Phonometric surveys, continuous sound monitoring, and vibration analysis using certified instruments and standardized procedures.

Noise barriers along the A2 motorway – Chiasso
Client: Republic and Canton of Ticino – Construction Division
Project Cost: approx. CHF 70 million
Final and executive acoustic design in collaboration with the architectural firm Mario Botta and verification of execution regarding acoustic aspects and final testing.
The noise barrier project, designed as a tree-lined avenue (Viale Alberato) by architect Mario Botta, stands out for its focus on transparency and aesthetics, while still ensuring high acoustic performance. The use of a glass structure—a choice that might seem at odds with sound insulation requirements—has been skillfully balanced through careful design of the sound-absorbing elements.

Noise Barriers on the N1 and N1a motorways – Geneva
Client: Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) – Regional Office 1 (Estavayer-le-Lac)
Project Cost: approx. CHF 20 million
Assignment: From 2012 to 2023, execution of acoustic studies for the current situation (ZEL) and the final project (AP) in accordance with the FEDRO Technical Manual on Route Planning, up to the approval of construction permits.
The Jonction de Versoix is a strategic motorway interchange located near the municipality of Versoix, northwest of Geneva in the immediate vicinity of Geneva-Cointrin Airport. It is part of the A1 motorway, one of the main arteries connecting Geneva and Lausanne, and is characterized by a complex network of access ramps, multi-level configurations, and intersections. Due to its intricate layout and heavy traffic flow, noise pollution assessment is particularly challenging. The numerous noise sources, distributed across multiple levels and directions, make precise modeling difficult and require specific and detailed acoustic analyses calibrated on on-site sound measurements.

Acoustic Survey and Railway Noise Analysis
Client: Fideconto Gestioni Immobiliari SA – Bellinzona
The Cà di Ferro apartment building, located in the municipality of Minusio, is exposed to railway noise from the SBB Tenero-Locarno line. Residents report being particularly disturbed by the intense wheel-rail squeal caused by friction between wheels and tracks during train movements.
Acoustic measurements were taken over a 7-day period, capturing 194 train passages. This monitoring included recording train speeds and identifying rolling stock types, providing a representative sample to better understand variations in noise levels at different times of day and under varying weather conditions. Crucially, the collected data must be analysed not only in terms of average values but also by examining specific frequency bands, as these may have a more significant impact on residents’ perception of disturbance.
Environmental Noise Protection
Noise Attenuation of Factory Equipment
Client: Schindler Elettronica SA – Locarno
Analysis of over 90 noise sources from technical equipment located on the roofs and inside the building, with verification of compliance with the Noise Pollution Ordinance, the Environmental Protection Act and SIA Standard 181 ‘Noise protection in building construction’. Design and dimensioning of noise mitigation measures through the installation of silencers, enclosures, and sound-absorbing screens.
Environmental Noise Protection
Noise Attenuation of Shooting Ranges
Client: Municipality of Biasca
Acoustic study of weapon noise for the renovation of the Biasca shooting range. Noise assessments carried out using SonArms software. In accordance with the Noise Pollution Ordinance, evaluation of design variants aimed at reducing noise at the firearm muzzle within the shooter’s house, as well as targeted measures along the projectile trajectory to attenuate sonic noise of the projectile. Site supervision during the execution of the renovation works.

Architectural Acoustics of the Siberia
Ice Rink
Client: Municipality of Ascona
The Siberia ice rink, located in the municipality of Ascona and inaugurated in the winter of 1936/37, was renovated and expanded with a large roof structure, partially enclosed on the sides. Thanks to the use of specialised architectural acoustics software, the room acoustics interventions were optimized through the application of suitable materials, selected according to the design geometry, in order to ensure an acoustically comfortable environment in compliance with current standards and recommendations. Additionally, the new roof and the partial closure of the side walls were designed with the aim of maximizing noise reduction towards the surrounding neighborhood.

Building Acoustics for the Renovation of the Hotel LUGANODANTE
Client: Hotel LUGANODANTE – Lugano
Since 2006, we have been providing acoustic consulting services for the design and renovation of the Hotel LUGANODANTE, dealing with the acoustic dimensioning of the construction elements separating rooms, offices and work areas, the design of soundproofing and anti-vibration measures for technical ventilation systems, and the design and verification of architectural acoustic measures in meeting rooms and offices, in close collaboration with the designers.
